PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

Risk Management degrees teach students how to forecast and evaluate financial risks for organisations. After identifying potential threats, risk managers create and implement procedures meant to minimise negative impacts. Examples of major financial risks are management errors, accidents, or cyber-attacks. Risk Management careers include claims investigators, risk analysts, underwriting, and more.

STAGE ONE

Level 7 Diploma in Risk Management (120 Credits)

COURSE OVERVIEW

The objective of the OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Risk Management is to provide learners with the skills and understanding in risk management that align with good strategic decision making to maintain organisations’ competitive advantage.

The OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Risk Management programme provides an in-depth understanding of risk and their application in practice both for financial and non-financial organisations.

Learners will learn both theoretical and practical understanding of risk including risk measurement and modelling.

The OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Risk Management qualification enables learners to progress into or within employment and/or to work toward a relevant master’s programme with advanced standing.

STAGE TWO

MSc Risk Management (60 Credits)

COURSE OVERVIEW

The MSc Risk Management final stage top-up programme is offered to students who already possess the Level 7 Diploma in Risk Management.

The top-up programme allows you to achieve a MSc Risk Management qualification in up to six months, so it is a fast track to new opportunities and enhanced career prospects.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

For entry onto the OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Risk Management qualification, learners must possess:

  • An honours degree in related subject or UK level 6 diploma or an equivalent overseas qualification
  • Mature learners with management experience (learners must check with the delivery centre)
  • Learners must be 21 years old or older at the beginning of the course

For MSc Programme:

  • Learners need to possess relevant OTHM level 7 diploma (120 credits) qualification
  • Learners must also have a minimum of 2 years’ work experience at graduate level, in either a managerial or professional capacity which may include voluntary work, placements, internships, project management etc.

English requirements: If a learner is not from a majority English-speaking country must provide evidence of English language competency.

DURATION AND DELIVERY

The qualification is designed to be delivered over one academic year for full-time study, but it is also flexible in its delivery in order to accommodate part-time and distance learning.

The qualification is delivered face-to-face, through lectures, tutorials, seminars, distance, online by approved centres only.

ASSESSMENT AND VERIFICATION

All units within this qualification are internally assessed by the centre and externally verified by OTHM. The qualifications are criterion referenced, based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes.

To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria. Judgement that the learners have successfully fulfilled the assessment criteria is made by the Assessor.

The Assessor should provide an audit trail showing how the judgement of the learners’ overall achievement has been arrived at.
